Mario Bellini

Designed by Mario Bellini in 1971, Totem originates from an absolute form: a cube measuring approximately 51 centimeters per side that houses a complete Hi-Fi system.

When closed, it does not reveal its function. When open, it transforms: the two speakers separate from the central body to reveal the stereo module, radio, and turntable, finding their place freely in space. Form and function coincide in a radical design capable of changing from a compact volume into a listening machine with a single simple gesture.

«Music is an immaterial message and has no visible form,» Bellini wrote. Totem assigns it an elementary, precise, and recognizable shape.

In the Ruby Red Special Edition, the color amplifies this presence. The high-gloss finish seamlessly covers the geometry of the cube and, as Totem opens, accompanies its transformation: from a single red volume to a composition of elements in space.

It is the most energetic of Totem’s new interpretations, an intense shade that highlights the graphic and architectural character of the design even further.

Crafted and painted in Italy, Totem preserves the original 1971 design while integrating a contemporary audio system. In an era where listening has become almost invisible, Totem continues to do the opposite: it gives music a physical place in space.
